Combating Daily Gun Violence
Supporting Research, Law Enforcement and Local Solutions
While gun violence impacts Americans everywhere, gun homicides and assaults are disproportionately prevalent in historically underfunded neighborhoods in our cities. Gun violence reflects and intensifies this country’s long-standing systemic and structural inequities. City leaders, local groups, and residents are driving solutions to reduce gun violence and increase safety in their communities, but law enforcement, policymakers, communities, and researchers need resources to do their jobs. Lawmakers need to do their part in this fight by funding new research into gun violence; community-driven, evidence-based interventions to curb city gun violence; and new tools to help law enforcement collect evidence, trace all crime guns, reduce trafficking, and solve gun crimes.
