Everytown Files Brief in Support of Michigan’s Safe Storage Requirement for Foster Parents (Johnson v. Lyon)

Everytown for Gun Safety filed this brief in the United States District Court for the Western District of Michigan in a case challenging Michigan’s regulation requiring foster parents to responsibly store their firearms. This brief discusses the social science research showing responsible storage can reduce the horrible toll of child suicide and unintentional shootings by children. The brief also surveys the long history of laws requiring firearms and ammunition to be responsibly stored.
