The Link Between Gun Laws and Interstate Gun Trafficking

Trace the Guns examines comprehensive crime gun trace data from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and finds that states with weak gun laws are the top suppliers of guns recovered in out-of-state crimes. They’re also the source of a greater proportion of likely trafficked guns — and there’s a strong association between a state’s gun laws and the state’s propensity for exporting crime guns.
